Online Therapy in New York & Florida
I offer online therapy across New York and Florida for adults and couples who want depth-oriented work but can't always make it to an office. The approach is the same as in person: psychodynamic, integrated with somatic and trauma-informed work. That applies whether you're in Manhattan, elsewhere in New York State, or in Florida.
Many people who choose online therapy aren't looking for something lighter. They have demanding schedules, live outside the city, travel for work, or simply feel more able to open up from their own space. Online therapy makes it possible to stay consistent, and in this kind of work, consistency is often what allows change to happen.
What online therapy with me looks like
Sessions take place over secure, HIPAA-compliant video through Google Meet, at the same time each week. You'll need a private space where you won't be overheard or interrupted, and you need to be physically in New York or Florida during each session, since that's where I'm licensed.
Can depth and somatic work happen over video?
This is one of the most common questions I hear, and it's a fair one. Psychodynamic work translates well online. The things we pay attention to are still there: the patterns that repeat, what's hard to say, what’s there on a deeper level.
Somatic work looks a little different over video, but it doesn't disappear. Somatic work is much the same online. As we talk, I might ask what's coming up in your body, or whether there's a way your body wants to express what you're feeling. For some people, being in their own space actually makes it easier to notice what's happening in the body.
When online works well, and when in person may be better
Online therapy can work very well when:
A busy schedule makes commuting to sessions hard to sustain
You live outside Manhattan, elsewhere in New York State, or in Florida
You travel frequently and want continuity
You feel more at ease opening up from your own space
For some people, though, coming into the office matters. Leaving the house and walking into a separate space can provide structure that's hard to recreate at home, especially during periods of depression, or when home doesn't feel private or safe. If you're in the New York City area, we can talk about whether online, in-person sessions at my Midtown office, or a combination makes sense for you.
What I work with online
I see clients online for the same concerns I work with in person, including:
Complex trauma and the long-term effects of childhood experiences
Burnout and the pressures of demanding careers, including therapy for lawyers
Sexual trauma and abuse, including male survivors
Anxiety & depression
Online couples therapy
I also offer online couples therapy for partners in New York and Florida, drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy. Partners can join from the same room or from different locations. Couples therapy online can be especially helpful when schedules or distance make it hard to meet in person.
For clients in Florida
I'm licensed to provide therapy to clients located in Florida, so you can work with me online from anywhere in the state.
I welcome clients of all backgrounds, and my work is LGBTQ+ affirming. If you're considering online therapy in New York or Florida, I offer a free consultation to see whether working together feels like a good fit.
