Couples Therapy in New York (EFT-based)
I offer psychodynamic and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples in NYC (in-person & telehealth) and across New York via telehealth.
I work with partners experiencing repeated conflict, difficulty communicating, emotional disconnection, attachment injuries, and the lingering impact of trauma on their relationship.
Many couples come to therapy feeling stuck in reactive cycles: one partner pursues while the other withdraws. For some, arguments escalate or partners shut down entirely. For others, it’s more subtle: a loss of intimacy, sexual disconnection, or a sense that closeness has faded.
Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), we identify and slow down these recurring interaction patterns and help each partner access and express the deeper emotions underneath. EFT is an evidence-based, attachment-focused model with a strong research foundation. It’s an approach that works less on teaching communication techniques and more on helping partners reach each other at a deeper emotional level.
Alongside EFT, I integrate relational psychodynamic therapy to explore how early attachment experiences, family-of-origin dynamics, and trauma shape how each partner shows up in the relationship.
Together, this work helps couples:
Interrupt reactive conflict cycles
Repair trust after ruptures and attachment injuries
Understand each other more deeply
Strengthen intimacy and security
Develop a more stable and connected bond
I work with couples of all relationship structures, including monogamous and non-monogamous partnerships and LGBTQ+ relationships. The goal is not to assign blame, but to build a secure relational foundation where each partner feels seen, respected, and emotionally understood.
This work may be a good fit if you:

Struggle with emotional or physical intimacy
Are navigating betrayal, attachment wounds, or trauma
Are seeking a space to process the grief over a relationship that may be ending
